Heckington Show and Me – Double DVD box set – Runtime 4hrs 10mins
Heckington Show has a national reputation as the UK’s largest village show, and the largest voluntary-run show of any type in the country. It has always felt like something rather special and for the first time interviewer Andrew Key and Heckington based filmmaker Steve Parry have captured just what that is in this 2-disc set. The project has been undertaken as part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary show, which makes it extra special.
Together they garner stories from the area that tell us what makes Heckington Show such an important part of people’s lives, for individuals and their families over generations. Interviews are combined with rare archive film and photos – a real highlight is footage of a young Victoria Pendleton racing on Heckington’s famous cycle track in the 1990’s.
We then go behind the scenes to see preparations for the 150th Show and meet the dedicated team of local people who put on this magnificent event every year.
Disc 2 has bonus footage of the stunning firework display at the 2017 Show and more in-depth interviews.
If you love the magic of Heckington and its Show, or want to learn more about the very best of British rural life this is a must-have.
